4TH GRADE TEACHER

Serving as the sole ELA teacher for 47 4th graders in two classes with 9 students with IEPs by maintaining consistent routines, management techniques, and prioritizing relationships with both students and families to ensure success for students at reading levels ranging from Kindergarten-4th grade.
As the homeroom teacher for one 4th grade class, establishing a strong classroom flow for daily arrival and breakfast, Morning Meeting, small group instruction, and dismissal, as well as weekly social emotional lessons and activities.
Becoming skilled in teaching reading comprehension in poetry, fiction, and nonfiction genres, early stages of informative- and opinion-based essay writing, narrative writing, and poetry writing, as well as researching and crafting presentations by identifying reliable resources.
Consistently collecting and analyzing formative and summative assessment data to respond to student needs in real time and to tailor future lessons to ensure student success while maintaining high expectations.
Successfully utilizing restorative practices, a self-regulation space, strong home-to-school relationships, and collaboration among other teachers and staff members to create a safe, productive, and respectful learning environment.
Recipient of the 2022-2023 Discretionary Bonus; a monetary bonus received through nominations from my colleagues and a final vote from my leadership team.

Gained experience and strength in phonics instruction, early literacy techniques, early reading comprehension strategies, 2nd grade math curriculum, and social emotional instruction.
Developed and implemented effective whole-class and individual management strategies, restorative practices, and proactive strategies to create a positive learning environment.
Created a form for behavior documentation that was adopted school wide in order to track behaviors, collect data, and obtain the proper interventions for students in need of extra support.
Collaborated with the team on multiple IEPs and worked closely with families, administrators, the Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) team, and outside mental health resources to support students.
Effectively assessed students, analyzed data, and collaborated with Title 1 reading coaches and reading corps tutors to adapt the curriculum to meet student needs while maintaining the integrity of the content.

Worked collaboratively with my mentor teacher to transition students from an enriching online learning environment to a productive in-person classroom community.
Created and implemented a project-based learning social studies/science unit about community in which students worked with community members to successfully rebuild and revive the planters outside of our school.
